With eyes wide open

"Beep Beep" "Beep Beep" the saga of my cell phone continues. Or not- not my cell phone, that is.
You see, I own a nice little number that neatly fits into my palm. Sleek, black, ladylike.
One day while trying to figure it out, I pressed a few buttons here, played with a few options there, heard the various ring-tones and finally decided to stay with the lilting sounds that I had originally chosen to announce my calls. After all was done, I closed shut my black beauty, cradled it in my palm and proceeded to admire it one more time.
Except, my cell phone now showed no time, its sweet face a blank- expressionless, dumb. I headed for the landline and called my cell. It rang, but no number (or any thing else) was visible on its shut screen. :-( I tried working it some more but to no avail. This has been my phone for the longest time and all the fancy 'free upgrades' had so far failed to persuade me to switch my loyalties.
I was worried and tried to hide the panic from my self but I just knew it was something my son would easily fix. Well, it was not to be. He tried and tried again and again. Then we tried to have it fixed at the AT&T store but no luck. Well, you guessed it- I did not like any of the 'free upgrades' or any other phone in the store.
My son just swapped my sim card into his old phone and I just ran with it. He has this heavy masculine orange colored mass of stability, which yours truly has somehow destabilized. I've managed to stuff it up and it now works only if I have the 'speaker on'.
"Beep Beep, Beep Beep", I better see what it wants me to, 'call' voicemail-done-'speaker', -done-and it is a new voicemail from my daughter,
"Mum, Mum, guess who I saw today...Jude Law..I was.." is as far as I heard, then hung up to call her right back!
"Rrrrrringggg, rrrrrrring, rrrrring...", it goes to her voicemail. I am disappointed. yet, I leave an excited message, "Hey, Eyes Wide Open" I say, how many people in NYC and you get to see all these folks..."
Can't wait to hear back from her. Get all the goss on where, when and how? Is there a picture? Is he cute? You know, all the usual questions.
Maybe I'll keep you updated here.
Or maybe not, I do not want to jinx her spree of sightings. Or, mine? After all I'm the one, living vicariously..
:-)<mm"
